Medium Handicap Class

The medium handicap class is for boats with a PY handicap between 1000 and 1174 . It includes traditional designs such as Wayfarers and GP14s, as well as more recent designs such as the RS Vareo and RS200. It also incorporates the ever popular single handed Laser class in most of its rig forms.

The class races on a regular basis in the joint events with Leigh Sailing Club, sharing starts with the slow handicap fleet. This ensures a friendly, competitive environment.

The racing is well organised but the emphasis is very much about enjoying time out on the water and, like all sailors within the club, we are very keen to encourage new faces out onto the water and into the races. You don't have to be a hotshot or have a state of the art boat to be in the mix. Everybody within the class is more than capable of making a complete cock-up of a race!

We race most weekends from the beginning of April till the end of October, with some hardy sailors bravely competing in the winter series. If you would like more information about this class please contact class captain Andy Baucutt
