Sailing at EYC

The sailing area is tidal with the mud flats around the Wilton exposed except for about two hours either side of high tide. The Club boasts a concrete pontoon adjacent to the Wilton where limited temporary mooring and fresh water is available. Visitors should telephone a Flag Officer on 01702 478404 (or call ” Wilton ” on VHF Channel 37 when racing is taking place). There is a deep water anchorage in the Ray Gut about a mile offshore.

The Club maintains two tenders to ferry members to their boats, two fast ribs and a cadet boat to support the sailing members whilst afloat. They are run by the members. The Club holds regular sailing events from April until October, mainly at weekends and mostly in conjunction with Leigh Sailing Club. Each year there are Inter Club cruiser and dinghy racing events involving the other local clubs, in which the Club is prominent. The Club also holds occasional open events and a very successful annual Cadet Week.

There is separate sailing for cadets. From the beginning, members were cruising and racing and now they participate in cruises and races locally and in many places worldwide.
